The hills are alive…

Siena is one hilly place!  My school is about a one minute walk from my apartment “as the crow flies” but I actually have to take two switchbacks to get up to where it is!

Attached is a photo of the first hill I meet in the morning, the worst one; there are then two more, slightly less steep, in the switchbacks.  There is a little café with outdoor seating on this first hill and they have to put blocks down to brace the chairs and tables to keep them from sliding down the hill.

I actually lost my balance taking the attached photos of the blocks as I had to squat down very far and when I went to stand up I just about rolled backasswards down the hill!   Yes, it was very embarrassing and I think I may have broken a toe!
