San Gimignano and Volterra

This afternoon / evening, I went to San Gimignano and Volterra with some students from the school including a very nice German woman, Andrea, from my class and an Australian women, Susanne, that is in Anna’s class (the other American woman from North Carolina).

San Gimignano is very nice and is home to the white wine Vernaccia (di San Gimignano) which is very nice. A bit like a Pinto Grigio, fresh and crisp and nice in the summer. A white wine is a rare thing in this region of reds!  It is also the home of one of the most famous gelaterias in Italy, “Gelateria di Piazza” in the Piazza della Cisterna.  It has one numerous awards and it was indeed delizioso!!!!

If my photos tend to give the impression that all of these Tuscan towns look alike, I can assure you that they all have their personalities and it would take a loooong time to get bored with how pretty some of them are and how beautiful the vistas can be.  Bellissima!

First San Gimignano, then Volterra in a separate post:
